Kepez occupies the broad northern side of Antalya’s urban area, away from the Mediterranean shoreline. This is an inhabited city district of residential neighbourhoods, busy commercial streets and generous public parks—not a self-contained coastal resort. Visitor sites include Upper Düden Waterfall, the former textile factory campus, family attractions and ancient Lyrboton Kome.
The main things to do in Kepez, Antalya, are spread across separate neighbourhoods rather than gathered around a walkable old quarter. Dokuma and Fabrikalar provide a more central urban setting, while Varsak and Kirişçiler sit closer to the open northern edge.
Things to do in Kepez, Antalya
See Upper Düden Waterfall from different angles
Upper Düden Waterfall is Kepez’s best-known natural landmark. Also called Düdenbaşı or İskender Waterfall locally, it flows through a landscaped park where water, mature greenery and rock cavities soften the surrounding city. Paths and viewpoints trace the grotto-like terrain, revealing the flow from several perspectives before it drops through the park.
This is not Lower Düden Waterfall, the coastal cascade that falls from Antalya’s cliffs into the Mediterranean. The two belong to the same river system but occupy distinctly different settings; Upper Düden is the shaded inland site within Kepez.
Explore DokumaPark and the Antalya Science Center
DokumaPark occupies Antalya’s former textile factory campus, now reused as a public cultural and green complex while retaining its industrial character. The retained factory buildings and gardens now contain cultural venues, libraries, galleries, play areas and spaces for sport.
The Antalya Science Center uses hands-on themed exhibitions and workshops to explain science to children and adults. Elsewhere on the campus, the Anadolu Toy Museum fills the former factory nursery with themed displays. A nostalgic vehicle collection, an open-air miniature museum and the Hababam Sınıfı museum are also located here, although individual venue schedules can change.

Ancient daily life at Lyrboton Kome
On a hill near Varsak and Kirişçiler, Lyrboton Kome opens onto a broad, rocky landscape scattered with ruins and trees. The settlement was linked to ancient Perge and occupied from the Hellenistic period into medieval times, with much of its visible fabric dating from the Roman and Byzantine eras.
Its importance lies in work and daily life rather than grand spectacle. Olive presses, workshops and storage areas show the scale of rural oil production, while houses, baths and churches help map the wider community. Paths through the archaeopark reveal the settlement plan alongside views over Antalya’s northern fringe.

Parks, woodland and family attractions
Antalya Natural Life Park, often simply called Antalya Zoo, spreads through pine woodland in the Kepezaltı recreation zone. Paths and picnic areas run through the woodland around the animal enclosures. Kepez City Forest, Macera Ormanı and the slopes around Mesa Dağı are other wooded recreation areas, with elevated ground and broad viewpoints beyond the denser neighbourhoods.
How Kepez differs from central Antalya and the coast
Kepez consists largely of residential and commercial neighbourhoods, with family attractions and inland parks beyond Antalya’s seaside areas. Roman and Ottoman lanes, the Old Harbour and central evening life are concentrated in Muratpaşa. The city’s long urban beach lies in Konyaaltı. Kepez has no coastline, and neither coastal district forms part of it.
Seasons in Kepez
Spring and autumn are well suited to Lyrboton Kome, the waterfall and wooded parks. Summer is hot and dry; exposed archaeological ground feels very different from shaded Upper Düden or DokumaPark’s indoor venues. Winter is generally mild but rainier, and cultural schedules may vary seasonally or during maintenance.
