Konyaalti is Antalya’s western urban coastal district, where a long fine-pebble beach meets landscaped parkland and lively neighbourhood streets under the mountains. Many of the things to do in Konyaalti, Antalya, lie along this waterfront, yet the area remains an everyday part of the city rather than a self-contained resort.
Things to do in Konyaalti, Antalya
Konyaalti Beach begins where the city’s central cliffs give way to an open shoreline, then stretches west towards the harbour side. Fine pebbles predominate, with occasional mixed sand-and-pebble sections. The mountain horizon is a constant presence, while the water’s depth, waves and seabed slope vary along the beach and with the weather.
Much of the seafront is framed by Sahil Antalya Yaşam Parkı. Its promenades, lawns, seating and play and sports spaces turn the coast into an urban park as well as a place for swimming. Public shoreline runs alongside separately managed beach areas, cafés and seasonal businesses. Facilities and services therefore change from one stretch to the next.
Behind much of the shore, apartment buildings, hotels, cafés and everyday shops keep the scenery unmistakably urban. Broad lawns border some sections, while denser clusters of beach businesses line others and open views appear between them. Residential streets begin directly behind many sections of the promenade.
At the eastern end, Beach Park and Arapsuyu have a denser leisure atmosphere, with city parks and Antalya Aquarium close to the sea. Farther west, the Boğaçayı river mouth opens into a broader landscape of water, parkland and coast near the urban beach.
Aquarium, climbing and ancient remains

Antalya Aquarium in Arapsuyu contains themed displays and a long underwater tunnel. The aquarium sits among the area’s parks and leisure facilities, close to the eastern beach.

The district also reaches inland to Geyikbayırı, Antalya’s best-known sport-climbing area. Its limestone crags represent a specialist outdoor side of Konyaalti, distinct from the waterfront. Nearby Trebenna occupies a wooded hilltop, where visible walls, rock chambers and Roman and Byzantine remains sit among the trees.
Where to stay along the coast
Arapsuyu and Beach Park occupy the active eastern end, close to the aquarium, parks and a concentrated mix of leisure venues. Altınkum and Öğretmenevleri feel more residential, with local cafés and ordinary neighbourhood streets behind the coastal band.
Gürsu and Liman lie along the western urban beach, where apartments and hotels connect with the long promenade and Boğaçayı is closer at hand. Hurma is farther inland and has a quieter residential setting; it is not a beachfront neighbourhood.
Seasons, Lara and historic Antalya
Summer is hot, dry and the busiest period on the beach. Spring and autumn bring milder conditions, when the promenade, city streets and inland landscapes are less shaped by peak heat. Winter is generally mild and rainier; Konyaalti remains a lived-in district, although some beach businesses and seasonal services reduce their schedules.
Across Antalya, Lara lies east and south-east of the centre. Its public beach around Güzeloba is predominantly sandy, while western Lara meets high cliffs; Konyaalti is known instead for its mainly fine-pebble shore, mountain backdrop and long promenade. Neither district contains Antalya’s old town: Kaleiçi, Hadrian’s Gate and the Old Harbour belong to the central Muratpaşa side.
