Shuttle, Taxi or Private Transfer? Getting from Antalya Airport to Your Hotel
Shuttle, airport taxi, car hire or private transfer from Antalya Airport — what each really costs in money and time, and which one fits your arrival.
You have landed, cleared passport control, and collected your bags. Now comes the part nobody researches until they are standing in the arrivals hall: how do you actually get to the hotel?
There are four realistic options at Antalya Airport, and the cheapest one on paper is rarely the cheapest once you count what it costs you in time and hassle. Here is the honest comparison.

1. The shuttle bus
Roughly the price of a coffee per person. Costs you two hours.
This is the option that looks unbeatable when you compare numbers. The catch is the business model: the vehicle waits until it is full, then delivers passengers hotel by hotel along the coast road.
If your hotel happens to be the first stop, it is genuinely excellent value. If it is the eleventh, a one-hour drive becomes three, with a stop every few minutes and no say in the order.
Choose it when: you are travelling alone or as a couple, with cabin bags only, arriving in daylight, and you are not in a hurry.
Avoid it when: you have children, checked luggage, a late-night arrival, or a hotel at the far end of the route.
2. The airport taxi
Fast. Unpredictable in price.
Taxis wait outside arrivals and will take you anywhere. No booking, no waiting for other passengers.
The problem is that you agree the price after you land, standing outside with your luggage, often at night, sometimes without a shared language. The meter is not fixed in advance, and long-distance fares are exactly where a negotiation goes badly. Nobody tracks your flight either — if you are three hours late, the taxi rank simply has different drivers on it.
Choose it when: you land at a reasonable hour, your hotel is close (city centre, Lara, Konyaaltı), and you are comfortable agreeing a price on the spot.
Avoid it when: you are going far. On the long runs east or west, a metered taxi frequently costs more than a booked private transfer — and you find that out at the destination, not before.
3. Car hire
Makes sense for a road trip. Not for getting to the hotel.
If you plan to explore — the Lycian coast, mountain villages, several towns in one week — a hire car is the right call and this article is not really about you.
But if the car exists solely to move you from the terminal to a beach hotel, look at what it actually involves: paperwork at the end of a flight, an unfamiliar car on unfamiliar roads at night, hotel parking charges, fuel, tolls, and the same paperwork again on departure day. Plus a car sitting unused for a fortnight while you are at the beach.
Choose it when: you genuinely intend to drive during the holiday.
Avoid it when: the plan is hotel, beach, hotel.
4. Private transfer
Fixed price, direct, no queue.
You book before you fly. A driver is inside the arrivals hall with your name on a sign, your flight is tracked so a delay just moves the pickup, and the car goes directly to your hotel door.
On our routes that means Kemer from , Side from , Belek from , and Alanya from — per vehicle, not per person.
That last detail is what changes the maths. A family of four splitting one fixed fare usually lands close to what four shuttle seats cost, for a fraction of the journey time.
Choose it when: you are a family or group, arriving late, carrying luggage, or heading somewhere more than an hour away.
Avoid it when: you are alone, travelling light, and genuinely do not mind a long ride.
The short version
Alone with a backpack, landing at noon, staying in the city? Take the shuttle or a taxi.
Two adults, two children, landing at 01:30, staying in Side? Book a private transfer before you fly and do not think about it again.
Planning to drive across the region? Hire a car — but consider a transfer for arrival night and collect the car in town the next morning, rested.
Most travellers fall into the second group and only discover it at the baggage carousel.

Three things that decide the evening
Give the flight number, not the landing time. With a flight number we track the aircraft; a typed time does not survive a two-hour delay.
Send the full hotel name and address. This coast has several hotels sharing a name across different resorts.
Book the return at the same time. The morning of departure is the worst possible moment to arrange transport, and you will be doing it in a hurry.

Frequently asked questions
Per person, the shuttle bus. But it fills up before departing and drops passengers hotel by hotel, so a one-hour drive can take three. For two or more people a private transfer is often similar in total cost and far quicker — the fare is per vehicle, not per person.
For a short hop into central Antalya it can be. For anything beyond about an hour it usually is not — and with a taxi you agree the price after landing rather than before you fly. A booked transfer fixes the fare in advance, so there is nothing to negotiate at midnight with luggage in hand.
It depends entirely on where your hotel falls in the drop-off order, which you cannot choose. Budget for roughly double the direct driving time, and more in peak season. If your hotel is the last stop on a long route, three hours is realistic.
Rarely. Between the rental paperwork after a flight, night driving on unfamiliar roads, hotel parking, fuel and tolls, it costs more in money and effort than a transfer. Hire a car if you plan to explore the region; take a transfer if the plan is hotel and beach.
A private transfer, particularly for a late arrival. You go straight to the hotel with no waiting and no intermediate stops, child seats are provided free on request, and the fare is per vehicle so four people cost the same as two.
