Tosmur occupies a built-up stretch of Mediterranean shore east of central Alanya, where apartment blocks and local streets sit close to a mixed sand-and-pebble beach. The lower Dim River marks the neighbourhood’s eastern edge as it reaches the sea. Seafront hotels are part of the view, but this is also a residential part of the city, with cafés, shops and everyday services used throughout the year.
Where Tosmur sits
Tosmur is a neighbourhood in Alanya district, within Antalya Province, rather than another name for the centre of Alanya. The castle peninsula, Red Tower and harbour are farther west. To the east, the Dim River mouth forms the boundary with Kestel, placing the two neighbourhoods on opposite sides of the same waterside landscape.
Although Tosmur belongs to the wider Alanya urban area, the river gives it a recognisable geographic edge. Apartment-lined streets extend inland from the waterfront, with distant Taurus slopes visible beyond.
Sand, pebbles and changing sea conditions

Tosmur’s Mediterranean shore is not uniform. Sand-and-pebble sections run along the coast, and some hotel-managed areas use platforms. The surface underfoot, the angle of entry and the depth can change within a relatively short distance, while waves and water clarity depend on conditions that day.
One beach section can feel noticeably different from the next. High summer brings the greatest heat and the busiest beachfront. Late spring and early autumn are usually milder, with a less intense atmosphere around the shore.
The lower Dim River

After descending from the Taurus area and travelling through the Dim Valley, the river reaches the Mediterranean between Tosmur and Kestel. Its final stretch is part of Tosmur’s immediate scenery, with urban housing, mountain views and riverbanks meeting near the coast. Neither bank alone defines the mouth; it is the shared boundary between the two neighbourhoods.
The riverside restaurants and picnic places often associated with the Dim River extend inland along the valley. They are not all in Tosmur, and the same distinction applies to Dim Dam farther upstream.
Hotels, apartments and evenings
Apartment buildings shape much of Tosmur, alongside local shops, cafés, restaurants and everyday services. Holiday accommodation includes apartments and a smaller number of seafront hotels, some with their own managed beach areas. Homes and local businesses continue behind the hotels, so Tosmur is not an isolated hotel strip.
Evenings are generally quieter than in central Alanya. Restaurants and cafés remain part of local street life, while the neighbourhood has little resemblance to a large nightlife centre. After dark, Tosmur remains a residential district beside the sea rather than turning into a self-contained resort enclave.
What lies nearby
Beyond the beach, the lower riverbanks and the Dim River mouth are Tosmur’s main local sights. Inland, the wider Dim Valley is known for waterside restaurants and picnic areas, while Dim Cave lies above the valley outside the neighbourhood. Inside the cave, stalactites, stalagmites, columns and curtain-like limestone formations fill the chambers.
Central Alanya provides a different outing farther west, centred on the castle peninsula, Red Tower and harbour. These landmarks are often included in broad descriptions of the Alanya coast, but none is within Tosmur itself.

The Antalya Airport to Tosmur transfer links the airport with the neighbourhood. The linked route page shows the current vehicle options and booking details for this journey. This allows transport between the terminal and the accommodation address to be arranged before arrival.
