İncekum is a holiday resort on western Alanya’s coast, with a broad sandy shoreline and pine trees close to the water. Fine golden sand covers its best-known beach sections—the Turkish name İncekum means ‘fine sand’—while hotel gardens, wooded ground and small local businesses occupy the band behind the waterfront.

Where an İncekum holiday sits on Alanya’s coast

İncekum is a neighbourhood of Alanya district in Antalya Province, on the district’s western Mediterranean shore. The broader Okurcalar side lies farther west, while neighbouring Avsallar adjoins the area to the east and has a larger town centre. Along this western shore, Okurcalar, İncekum and Avsallar refer to neighbouring but distinct destinations.

Fine sand and the waterline

İncekum Beach is associated with soft yellow-gold sand, especially along its best-known stretches. In many sections, the seabed descends gradually and the first part of the sea is relatively shallow. Conditions are not identical along the whole coastline: depth, waves, water clarity and the mixture of sand or stones at the entry change from one section to another and with the daily sea state. The curves of the bay can leave neighbouring stretches of shore with noticeably different conditions on the same day.

Pines and İncekum Nature Park

Pine forest and sandy cove in İncekum Nature Park

İncekum Nature Park lies between the D400 and the Mediterranean and was declared a nature park in 2006. Red pine gives the protected landscape its dominant visual feature, accompanied by Mediterranean plants such as myrtle, laurel, oak, oleander and mastic. Pine trunks, sandy pockets and views through the trees distinguish this shore from a continuous line of hotel buildings.

The name İncekum is used both for the neighbourhood and resort area and for its famous beach. The protected park is closely associated with this coast, although its official record places it within Avsallar neighbourhood boundaries. That administrative boundary does not make İncekum and Avsallar synonyms; they remain neighbouring destination names.

Resorts, local shops and evenings

Large coastal resorts form a substantial part of İncekum’s accommodation, often with broad hotel gardens between the main buildings and the beach. Smaller hotels and other accommodation add more modest options around the resort area. Local shops cover everyday holiday needs, but the commercial centre and evening activity are more limited than in Avsallar. After dark, the atmosphere is generally quieter, with much of the activity remaining inside resort grounds or around a small number of local venues.

Places worth knowing beyond the beach

İncekum Nature Park is the principal local place beyond the main beach, with its pine woodland and small sandy coves. Outside İncekum, the stone caravanserai of Alara Han and the hilltop remains of Alara Castle belong to the wider western-Alanya and Okurcalar side. Farther east, central Alanya’s castle peninsula contains long castle walls and the Red Tower above the harbour. All three historic sites are outside İncekum.

Seasons on the coast

High summer is the hottest and busiest period, when beaches and resort grounds have their strongest seasonal activity. Late spring and early autumn are generally milder, while the coastal area is quieter outside the main holiday season. Weather, sea conditions and the level of seasonal activity vary throughout the year.

Antalya Airport transfers

The Antalya Airport to İncekum route links the airport with the resort area. The route page brings together the live vehicle options and booking information for this connection. Travellers can arrange the journey from the airport to their accommodation before they arrive.
