Okurcalar is a Mediterranean resort neighbourhood with large hotel grounds, broad beach sections and small coves. Okurcalar holidays centre on the shoreline rather than a compact historic centre: hotels, shops and local roads sit in separate clusters, and most evening activity is found in the resorts and nearby retail areas.
Okurcalar holidays on western Alanya coast
Okurcalar belongs to Alanya district and lies on the western side of Antalya Province's Mediterranean coast. It sits east of Çenger and west of Avsallar, with many of its large resorts around the Alara tourism area. Its layout bears little resemblance to Alanya city centre. There is no old harbour, historic central square or continuous nightlife promenade. Instead, the D400 passes through the broader resort area, while hotel grounds, local roads and individual beach sections are spaced along the coast.
Beaches and coves along the coast

No single description fits every part of Okurcalar's shoreline. Some hotel sections have broad sandy areas, while others mix fine or small pebbles with sand; the water entry can also be noticeably stonier in places. Small curved bays sit between more open stretches, and shore break can be visible even in a sheltered-looking cove. The coast faces the open Mediterranean, so waves, depth and water entry vary with the exact section and prevailing conditions. A beach that looks sandy from above may still have pebbles or stones at the waterline, and even neighbouring sections can differ.
Resort life, shopping and evenings
Large beachfront and near-coast properties dominate local tourism. Many cater to families, although facilities differ from one resort to another. Beyond the hotel grounds, shops and services are dispersed along local roads and around the D400 rather than gathered in one dense centre. Alara Grand Bazaar and the smaller shops nearby make up the main retail area outside the resorts. Evenings are generally quieter and more hotel-based than in central Alanya, but the bazaar and roadside businesses keep parts of Okurcalar active into the evening.
Places not to miss in and near Okurcalar

Alara Han stands beside the Alara River in the area around Okurcalar and Çakallar. An inscription dates this substantial Seljuk caravanserai to 1231–1232 and attributes it to Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I. Alara Castle stands on the steep rocky height above the valley. The Alara River runs through the green valley below the castle and beside the caravanserai.
Cibra/Kibra ruins by the coast
The lesser-known Cibra/Kibra ruins belong to Okurcalar itself. The site occupies a small coastal peninsula and its western plateau near a broad bay and Tuz Island. Unlike Alara Han and Alara Castle, it lies on Okurcalar's own coast rather than in the Alara River valley. The recorded remains are modest: cisterns, a tomb structure and quarry traces survive near today's resort shoreline.
Okurcalar through the seasons
High summer is hot, and the resort areas are at their busiest. Late spring and early autumn are generally milder, while winter is much quieter. Weather, sea conditions and seasonal business activity can vary throughout the year.
Antalya Airport to Okurcalar transfer
The Antalya Airport to Okurcalar transfer connects the airport with Okurcalar's resort area. Current vehicle choices and reservation details for the journey are available on the linked route page. The airport-to-accommodation journey can therefore be organised in advance.
