Konaklı holidays centre on a long Mediterranean shoreline, yet daily life continues in the streets behind it. Large hotels and landscaped grounds occupy much of the coast, but Konaklı also has a recognisable centre where local cafés, restaurants and shops continue beyond the resort gates. Beach days and town evenings therefore take place within the same compact area.

Konaklı holidays on Alanya’s western coast

Konaklı lies on the western side of Alanya district in Antalya Province. It sits east of Türkler and west of central Alanya, with the Mediterranean on one side and the foothills rising inland. The D400 runs through the broader settlement, separating or edging many coastal resort plots and inland streets. Hotel entrances, town businesses and residential roads therefore sit within a fairly compact corridor rather than in a detached resort enclave.

Sand, pebbles and the Konaklı shoreline

The beach is not one continuous ribbon of soft sand. Sandy patches alternate with pebbly stretches, while some sections have coarser stones or exposed rock around the waterline. Several large hotels maintain their own beachfront areas, and piers or bathing platforms appear along parts of the coast. The precise entry into the sea varies: one section may slope differently from the next, and depth can change within a short part of the shoreline. Waves and the clarity of the water also shift with the daily sea state, so no single description fits every hotel beach or every day.

The centre beyond the hotel gardens

Konaklı’s coastal resorts form a major part of the accommodation area, often with broad grounds, pools and gardens behind the beach. Across and around the D400, the centre has its own network of shops, cafés and restaurants, together with a shopping centre, outlet stores and bazaar activity. These streets provide a clear alternative to spending the whole evening within hotel grounds. After dark, the atmosphere is generally calmer than in central Alanya, although the centre remains lively during the main holiday season. Restaurant tables, illuminated shopfronts and people strolling between retail areas give the evening a settled town feel rather than that of an isolated hotel strip.

Şarapsa Han and Alanya’s major monuments

Stone façade and entrance portal of the Seljuk Şarapsa Han in Konaklı

Şarapsa Han is Konaklı’s principal historic landmark. Standing on the old route between Alanya and Antalya, this 13th-century Seljuk caravanserai was built during the reign of Sultan Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev II. Its long rectangular walls have a solid, fortress-like appearance, while the monumental stone portal provides the most elaborate architectural detail. An attached prayer space also forms part of the complex.

The castle peninsula and the Red Tower belong to the wider history of the district, but both are in central Alanya, outside Konaklı. Their fortified walls, harbour setting and medieval architecture make them distinct from the caravanserai beside the modern resort town.

Seasons in Konaklı

High summer is the hottest and busiest period, when beaches, hotel grounds and centre streets carry their greatest seasonal activity. Late spring and early autumn are generally milder, while the pace becomes quieter outside the main holiday months. Temperatures, sea conditions and the number of seasonal businesses operating vary from one period to another.

Antalya Airport transfer

The Antalya Airport to Konaklı transfer links the airport with this part of Alanya’s western coast. The linked route page shows the current vehicle options and booking details for this journey. This allows transport between the terminal and the accommodation address to be arranged before arrival.
